Question Heat Presses in Australia

HI there,
I am posting this thread because the ones I found in this forum were dated 2006-08.

I am looking to purchase a Heat Press in Australia but am finding it difficult.

Prices are ranging from a couple hundred dollars then into the thousands. Obviously you get what you pay for but the information is rather confusing. Obviously everyone wants to promote the brands they sell.

I would hate to buy one only to find out it was rubbish!

From those of you who have already purchased and learnt from your experience....
What is a reliable, decent brand to purchase in Australia?
Surely there must be someone who has purchased a machine recently who can share their information or advice?

Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!!!

There are quite a few good quality brands available on the market: Hotronix, as mentioned above, Geo Knight, the ones you have mentioned...

The question is - what do you need it for: one-offs or bigger quantities? small or big prints? only t-shirts or other substrates? how much space do you have for it? would digital or manual make a difference? last, but not least, what's your budget?

The main thing is to buy your press form a reputable company that will support you, if there are any issues. Generally, this company will have a range of substrates and consumables too.
Where are you located?

If I were to start again (I've been doing it for 4 years and now mostly use wide format equipment) I'd again go for:

Bigger platen size vs small one - mine was 40 x 60 cm. Gives you more flexibility and possibilities.

Swing-away over clam - keeps the heat of your hands, important when you are doing many at a time; easier to position things; can press tiles and hard objects better.

Good luck!

HIX also has three distributors in Australia. They are listed here: HIX Corporation - International Distributors - Australia
