Hey I need some help in purchasing a heat press because I am on budget. I found this hix presto on ebay and wondered if it was a good deal. Since it does not have any digital gauges I assume its a older model. I am not too familiar with heat presses because I used to screen print.

It seems to be ok you will need to clean the top witch is not hard to do I would get hold of Hix and see if the still make parts and it looks like you will need timer for that not sure if it has one.
I have old national and it was made by hix and I can get parts for it with hix.
I would all so watch the price keep it below $400 with shipping..

Thanks David I was looking at the hix website and it looks like they still make a presto 15 but I realized that the pressure setter for the one on ebay and the one on their website seems different so I am definately gonna give them a call. Nope it does not come with a timer I would have to pick one up. What would I use to clean the upper platen.

Hi Wane there is product called EZ-OFF (not the oven cleaner)it works very good you can get it at any fabric store you turn the press up to 250 then clean with rag then let it cool down and take damp rag and wipe that is it.
I all so would like to say I have 16x20 National that is over 10 years old I get it on Ebay with shipping $350.00 and I have only had one problem the two main wires where touching to gather and they melt and then short I had to put new wire on there.
If you are not "MECHANICALLY INCLINE" THEN I WOULD BUY NEW BUT I FEEL THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BUYING USED AS LONG AS IT IS NAME BRAND!!

David. I have tried several fabric and craft stores, and the internet, to purchase EZ-OFF but I could not locate it. Do they have a website, or who is the manufacturer?

Hi there
it depends on what you are using it for. I did a lot of reasearch into these. In Australia I found the good ones are about $1000-$1500 new. Think this is a lot more expensive than you can buy. But just so you know, we settled for a cheaper version at around $400-500 that is perfect for the job. Its actually much smaller than the ones everyone else was trying to sell us. But it has all the digital guages etc. Thing is you need to check what type of plate it has and also the temperature settings as well as the pressure. I would recommend and auto one too as it will be a lot of work for you if you don't get one of those. Anyway i know our prices are different but I wanted to share my experience with you coz I am new to this forum. Maybe you can use my advice based on prices relevant to your country tho. But I hope it helps! Was just trying to say that you can actually shop around and find a good one on a budget. If I was you and you don't really need a big one I would also go for one that is smaller. It's more portable too if you want to take it on the road with you.

Sparkly I would be using it to mainly produce t-shirts, mouse pads and other things of the sort. I just don't want to get a 9x12 and limit myself from the start.
Hey Ed is this what you were looking for? Ez-Off Iron Cleaner
This seems like what David is talking about. David if this is it let us know because I will order it right away.
