Re: Need a little direction The lower platen of a heat press should have a rubber, or silicon pad, attatched to it.
Sometimes if a press is used for sublimation, solely, the user may remove the pad to give the press more space to accept a thick plaque, or plate....
If you are printing garments, a lower platen pad is a must.
I also recommend a cover sheet when pressing. It keeps the "dirty" heater element from making contact with the clean, new garment. It helps to keep the heater clean..... if you make a mistake and place the graphic, up-side down facing the heater, it won't ruin your day..
