I just got my first press (yeah, me!) -- a Sekei/SunIE 15 X 15 manual press. I also got a bunch of samples from about 6 different companies. As you know, some transfers call for medium pressure, others for medium-heavy and still others for heavy pressure.
How do you tell the amount of pressure you're using?? Is it all guesswork and experience?
Also, what sort of errors would you get under the following scenarios:
- too much pressure
- not enough pressure
- too hot
- not hot enough
- too long of a dwell
- not patient enough with the dwell
So far, my hot peels are turning out pretty good with some ink still left on the paper (and some missing on the shirt). But, I am having issues with my cold peels -- the design in pulling off the shirt as I peel the transfer sheet.
And when do you use hot peel vs. cold peel (and what in the world is a double print hot split??).
Apparently, I have more questions than I planned!
Thanks!
