Default Pressing a 6 panel cap

Can I successfully press a 6 panel ball caps? Most 5 panel hats are too tall or too square. The 6 panel hats have more styles to offer. The logo would go directly over the seam in this case. I know some hats have a seam that is smoother than others. I was thinking that using a lot of pressure might get the material into the groove. Any thoughts?
Secondly, I need to imprint some ski caps for the same customer, I generally use hotmark 70, can I do knitted ski caps if they aren't acrylic (ie: 100% cotton)? I assume acrylic would be difficult to imprint.

For the 6 panel cap, it's really going to depend on your design....if you have small letters that are going to land in the seam, it might be challenging.

So much depends on the individual cap, design, and media (i.e. plastisol, vinyl, opaque) that I have found it to my benefit to test it out before commiting to the customer. After a while of doing this, you'll be able to "eye ball" a cap and design, and pretty much know.

Knit caps aren't a good base for imprinting. Regardless of the content of the yarn or thread, it's not a smooth surface, so what ever you press onto it is going to "float" (or have no place to adhere) in too many places.

It is possible to put the transfer on the seams, my heat-press is able to do it, the result is great!

Do you use a compliant layer on top of the seam to force the transfer into the gap?

Rick, I use an attachment from Livingston Systems, it's the Hat Champ and I print directly onto 6 panel caps, it has a rubber pad with a groove sanded in the middle for the seam. It comes out great.

Hi Rick! I do not use inlays, my heat-press has a baloon-like plate, it works with compressed air and air just fills the gaps. It is even possible to put the transfer on the back part of the cap.

Hi Rick,

It is made by Drucktech, they have these special heat-presses.
this is a big one with 2 heated plates. Mine has only one. I will send you pics if you send me your email address, or you can ask them to make you a video or something. Their website is: H?prések és alkatrészek
