We have an Insta Graphic Heat Press Model 204 Swing Away. We have been having a problem with ghosting as well as uneven heating (less ink transfers from one area than another). We noticed that when we lower the top platen, the front sits closer to the substrate than the back of the platen. If you live the arm lever a hair it will even out. Is the top platen supposed to move in this tilted way, or should it be level as it is raised and lowered?

It should lie flat, giving even pressure all over/around.

Is it a swing away?

I had a problem with my Geo Knight swing away press. The weld at the base of the post on the back had cracked, causing the post to "lean forward" when I applied pressure.

This was no doubt due to the fact that I had overused this poor little JP14 that isn't really meant for heavy use.

BTW -- GeoKnight was very helpful when I ordered the part, and got it out to me right away.
