Cap or Label Press for transfering tagless labeles
I want to move to a smaller heat press for printing tagless labels. Which would provide me with more flexibility, a flat label press or a hat/cap press? By flexibility I mean the ability to do other things with the unit (e.g. caps, sleeves, etc).
Are there any concerns with printing labels with the cap press (curved when should be flat)?
Is there a machine out there that will run both cap and label plates?

I would definately go with a cap press. If you get some extra, various sized platens, you'll be able to do all sorts of other items with it.
When doing an "over heart" press on polo shirts, the cap press saves me tons of time. I can position the shirt so that the buttons aren't on the platen. If the shirt has a pocket, then all the better because I can line the top of the pocket up with the edge of the platen, and know in an instant that I have the shirt placed straight on the press.
With a t-shirt press, I would need to place a pad underneath the area to be pressed in order to avoid the buttons.

deChez, I'm comparing a cap press with a label press. Which is basically the same size as a cap press, but the plates are flat. I would think the bonus with the polo shirts would work for both.

I have a cap press that I made a flat plate for to print labels. It works great. Just buy some small flat screens from your supplier, attach the flat plate to the press and go to town.

Sure, if you had a large enough platen on the label press, you could do polo's on it.
With the cap press, you can do all three...caps, polos, and labels.

Hi Ed!
It is easy to change from caps to the small flat one. Just 1 screw at the workplate and 1 at the heated plate and the air connection. My machine has a baloon-like plate it is very good for 6 panel caps. I use the small plates for bags or small kids or babies Tshirts, even grownups when the label is small. It is good because it solves the troubles of buttons and thickness differences.
