I have just pressed my first 2 t shirts and all went really well other than the colour of the t shrit has got lighter where the heat and pressure has been applied.
Can anyone tell me why or what i have done wrong?
It was on 150c like it said and it was 10 secs, the only thing i can think of was the pressure was wrong.
Its really noticeable on some colors like red. I have a steamer that I keep with me at shows just because some people freak and think the color won't come back. The color returns pretty quickly anyway, but a little steam will bring it right back.
I see this concern pop up now and again and makes me think none of you ever IRONED clothes ! You are pressing the fibers when you heatpress. Unless the article you are using has a blend that can be damaged, the color isn't really changing and will return to normal in a short time.
I do shirts on demand constantly, and I have to say I never seem to have anybody notice this?
I did 3 red shirts for a job yesterday and used a 4"x4" mouse pad. The heat press left a 4x4 white square, the same color as the fabric on the pad. I put the shirt in the dryer for a few mins. no more square. Darkening will disapper also, with letting the shirt sit. Mike
I have a t shirt shop in a flea market, and always tell customers about the color change when doing red shirts. They are always ok with it, and have never had anyone return with a problem with a red shirt. It freaked me out when I first started, hahaha. But we live and learn. And lots of lessons come from this site. Thanks to all of you,
they weren't pre-treated, were they? Pre-treat will leave a mark until washed a few times.
