How do I know if a used press is still good?

Default How do I know if a used press is still good?

I am looking to purchase a 20x25 press and a hat press. The large press is very expensive new. How do I know if a used one has been taken care of? Is there anything I should look for?
Thanks,
david

Bring an infrared temperature gun, heat it up to a temperature shown on the gauge, and test all areas of the platen.

I would also want to know the manufacturer and if repair parts are still readily available.

I agree I would test it on the spot.
