Question Been studying heat transfers, losing sleep...

Hey yall. I've been awake for days now (and my wife aint happy) looking for the best 16 X 20 heat press I can get in Canada. So far all I can find with TONS of searching, both on this forum and off, are AIP and some other randoms in the $500 - $1000 range. Now heres the question... Do I gamble on an E-bay ASC 365 16 X 20 which has mixed reveiws but will be shipped to me within Canada (shipping incuded) for around $600... or do I go all the way up to the $1000 plus range and buy a mighty press or geo knight, etc. from the USA? I'm new, but very serious about the business, and I cant afford to waste my money. I'd like to spend as little as possible, but I in no way, want to sacrifice quality. Customs charges are HUGE but having a press break down, I'm guessing, is way more expensive to repair if I have an out of country warranty. BLAAHHHH!..

I need a 16 X 20 press (at least) to do the type of designs my customer needs, and this size seems to be pretty give (good, no probs) and take (melting knobs and cables) from what I've read in the forums so far. Any 16 X 20 ASC-365, AIP, MIGHTY PRESS, GEOKNIGHT stories, critisisms, and praise welcome.

I need to make this purchase in the next couple of days.... hopefully. I live in Vancouver and would appreciate all comments both local and abroad. Thanks~!

Prez.

Hi prez,

I think this may be my first post. Anyway I bought a cheapo press from ebay UK. For roughly £250 which is doing the job very nicely.

Only thing I had to do was sand down the edges due to then being rough and catching t-shirts.

I previously worked for another company that had very expensive heat presses, so from my point of view this was an absolute bargain. Platen might be a touch smaller but that saved me £1000.

Do you find your profit margins larger with a press this size?

I don't know that press brand, but one thing I pay attention to when I buy from eBay is how long that vendor has been selling online, how many transactions has it carried, and the amount of positive feedback received.
I personally would buy the more expensive one, the well known brand.
If you are serious getting into this business you want to have the best equipment. And it is money well invested.
Good luck with your purchase.
