Default Researching heat press options

Hi , I currently am using a hotronix auto clam heat press about 3 years old but not alot of time on it until lately.
I have been having some problems doing screenprinted transfers and the ones from places like Artbrands.
I have been checking out different companies to get transfers from but last couple people I talked to said it may be my press... well I didn't like that thought but anyway wanted to get some feedback on presses.
The one thing I don't like about mine is there is no way to control or determine pressure. I really like the auto open feature. It has a digital timer and temp. its 16x20.
If I were to look into buying a better press - what would you guys suggest? Thanks for all your help.

The most recent version of the Hotronix Auto Clam has all of the features that you like as well as a perfect pressure digital display.

I do not believe that you should need to upgrade to a new press. I think that the problem could be solved with a few adjustments.

Are your transfers printing well in some areas on the garment but not others? This is usually due to uneven pressure caused by a raised surface on the garment. example: buttons, seams, zippers, collar etc. The best solution is to isolate the area you need to print on. When possible move the collar off the platen all together. If this is not possible there are inserts (pillow)that can be purchased which will even out the pressure and solve the problem.

Be sure to use a print perfect pad or something with a medium or firm density rather than a pillow if it is a high pressure application.

You should be able to apply all of the high pressure application with this press - have you turned the top over center pressure clockwise to lower the top platen? If not, give this a few full turns to up your pressure.

The only press that will give you significantly more pressure is an air operated press.

One thing about applying so much pressure is the prints look smashed. On some of the full color stuff, like from Art brands, it looks as if the white is mashed up through the color. What would cause that? I have used the temp. strips to test my press and they check out. I love being able to heat press and not get into full blown screenprinting, but the waste and headaches sometimes drive you crazy!!
