Discuss the different brands and sizes of heat presses available on the market, including Hix, GeoKnight, Hotronix, and other smaller manufacturers. Topics include maintenance, selection, styles and more.
I hope this is not a duplicate request for info, but I didn't seem to find anything when I searched, so forgive me if it is.
I'm looking for a great hat press. I have an old Geo. Knight that I bought when I purchased an existing shirt company but its REALLY a dinosaur. It works, but is designed for the hats with a much higher profile than what seems to be popular in my area -- you know, trucker style. =) It creates creases in the hats and sometimes causes the vinyl to bunch and crease as well. I'll mainly be using it to transfer vinyl designs.
I'm also in the market for a new hat press and will be at a show next weekend and going by a local dealer. Have you found one you like or are you still looking?
I will let you know what we find out - we are looking at one that has 4 or 5 different hat plates for the different style hats. We have an old knight hat press and it only works on a few style hats.
the stahls press is pricey but very well built w/digital time/temp and auto release and you can get different platens for it.. I have one and it works great
Hello Everyone!
My name is Debbie and I live in Manitoba, Canada. I am brand new to this site and am also brand new to the t-shirt business. In fact I am just in the process of researching heat presses, cutters and the vinyl and transfer papers out there. My head is starting to swim with all the information. Has anyone purchased any of these items from eBay and if you have are they worth the money you spend? I have a limited amount I can invest in these items so I have to be very careful.
Thank you.
Debbie
Haven't heard a word from anyone. =( If you find something great at the show you go to I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks!
Hi. If it's not too late, I'd like to put in my 2 cents worth on hat presses Hix offers a hatpress called the B-250D. it's a digital readout press specifically for hats, and has a changable lower platen for doing the kind of hats you're talking about. The one you want is called the "golf cap" platen, for doing the low-profile hats and visors. I'm not sure if both platens come with the machine, but hixcorp.com is their web address. This machine has been around a long time, and works very well. Good luck!
We looked at both and like the stahls cap press and will be purchasing one soon. The Knight we have works ok but it will be nice to have an updated model.
