Discuss the different brands and sizes of heat presses available on the market, including Hix, GeoKnight, Hotronix, and other smaller manufacturers. Topics include maintenance, selection, styles and more.
Hi,
I've been doing lots of looking around and am finally at a point that I think the heat press that I want to get is the Hix Presto 20 (16x20)
They say that it has the same tilting lower platen like the HT-600D.
Anyone have one of these?
How do you like it?
Does it heat evenly without deadspots?
Longevity???
Worth it?
***Or, does anyone own a HIX and have a comment on their heat presses, in general.****
Thanks all!
Denise

Looks like it is a beauty. I use the Geo knight 16 x 20 Clam shell with the automatic opening. I almost bought the one you want but my decision came down to customer service and I found Geo Knight ruled on this.
Although, that machine you are buying is sweet. I am sure they have great service as well.
I have a counter on mine and I have done 16,800 pressings and no problems on mine and no dead spots. I have owned for year so not enough data to really give you a good report. ALthough for sure a 16 x 20 is my favorite.
I bought a cheapie when I started $199 and it's in the storage because it came with a deadspot and the people argued about replacing it. The dead spot is in a remote spot so I have an x on it that I can not have a decal on the x when we have a big job.
Thanks Don
I've looked at the Geo Knight ones too. And they look good.
Price-wise, I'd be looking at their 14x16 though, and I figure that that might be too small.
Did you get the stand for yours?
(My 2 cents worth) I have been using a HIX 15" press with the floating platen for about 8 or 9 years now.
They are built very tough. I have never had a problem with this machine.
I didn't get the stand. I have seen these machines priced as low as 860 without the timer. I don't use the timer and I paid and extra 300 for it.
I have a particular set-up using 2 saw horses and a heavy Piece of Plywood. Works for me because I do a lot of double sided prints and need the extra room for my coupons! LOL! That is what my wife calls them because she cuts them.
After using a 16 x 20 press I really would have hard time using anything else. Plus I do a lot of 11 x 17 prints so need the extra space.
I have a clock in front of the press. I watch it! The automatic timer is funny. When that thing pops it pops. Has shocks but I like to press with it. I am a big guy so I don't have a problem.
If your small maybe the auto would work for you.
I press a couple hours a day.
The real deal is that GEO KNIGHT IS NICE. Life time warranty on the Heaters. That alone is good and they will be around for a while. HOPE SO!
Seems like a saw a 16 x 20 for 895 free shipping.. I will try and remember where I saw it.
