Will a 16" x 20" heat press power requirements be too much for home use? It might burn or damage something of my home's electrical system?

It is not the size of the press but the amps/voltage of the heat press. I would think you would be safe with a 20 amp circuit, but that could be dependent on your home's wiring. I would check with the vendor of the press as to the amps required and then check your circut breaker on the circuit you are using...better yet get an electrician's opinion if you are the least uncertain.

My power pro 16 X 20 (bragging) doesn't blow the breakers in our 30 something year old house trailer. I have a UPS for everything else just in case it draws enough to lower the availability of juice to sensative equipment like computers and cutter and printers.

My 16x20 press was too much voltage for my home office, so I had to have an electrician come out to add more amps to our fuse box.

I wrote about it here: minor heat press setback - we need more power Jim!

My press had to be moved to a 20 amp circuit that had no other major electrical draw. I bought it last christmas, immediately plugged it in with the Christmas tree which was fine until I turned the christmas tree lights on

The 16 x 20's I am familiar with pull 14.5 amps - we recommend a dedicated 20 amp circuit or worst case a 15 amp circuit.

I use a dedicated 20 amp at trade shows and am able to plug in a cutter and laptop with each 16 x 20 press, but couldn't plug in a sweeper, blow dryer, cap press or anything else that pulls much power at all with it.
