Discuss the different brands and sizes of heat presses available on the market, including Hix, GeoKnight, Hotronix, and other smaller manufacturers. Topics include maintenance, selection, styles and more.
I have used it a couple of times. You adjust the pressure of the press by adjusting the height of the platen... not the heating element. It is pretty easy to switch out platens and they recently released a larger system. The negatives are it takes up a lot of space, does not have a digital pressure gauge and it is basically more than the cost as two clamshell presses. You also still have to wait for the heat press to get back up to temperature before you can press again (i.e. all heat presses drop in temperature some after pressing and need to return to the proper temperature before the next press). So the time savings is not as much as you think it would be if you are doing things that are temperature sensitive (i.e. dye sub).
Maybe I should stick with the idea of that Geo Knight DK20S then. Only thing is I have been seeing different posts about the electronics in the Geo Knights going bad and such. I was kind of looking for a better replacement that was not 200 pounds.
I do want a swinger and will be doing laser transfers (C8800n) and sublimation (Richo GX7000) also.
