Discuss the different brands and sizes of heat presses available on the market, including Hix, GeoKnight, Hotronix, and other smaller manufacturers. Topics include maintenance, selection, styles and more.
Ok, we'll I've been doing a lot of reading here and other places about the Sunie aka Seiki heat press.
I decided to go with one to start out (Garments/vinyl are my side work). I made the same decision a while ago, going with a comparatively less expensive USCutter plotter (vs. a used Roland) and it has already paid for itself + some...I am hoping my Seiki decision has the same results!
Ok, down to the questions...
-Where is everyone buying theirs?
I will most likely go with ProWorldInc or Sunie.com unless there is a much better deal or option out there...I also see them at blankshirts.com and it seems ebay is no longer an option...
-15x15 vs. 16x24?
I only see the 16x24 on the sunie site (vs. other sites)...I read Proworld had shipping problems with the 16x24??? Plus, the 16x24 only has a 1 year warranty (vs. 3 year of 15x15)? Whats up with that? Maybe its the same guts but a larger heat platen, so there are bound to be some problems?
-Anyone have feedback on a 16x24 Seiki?
-Do they have a traditional 3 prong plug or an odd cockeyed one like on my BBC Flash or on some AC's
-I saw they were on backorder until Dec. 31st, now its at Jan. 15th...Is that date gonna stand?
I got my 15 by 15 Seiki from ProWorld Iron-On Transfers, Heat Press Machines, T-Shirt Printing Supplies - Pro World just before Christmas. Ed has answered all of my questions and even though the press was backordered then too it was shipped just when he said it would be. I have found time to use it a few times and really love it so far.
You ought to write to ProWorld and ask them all of those questions and you will get answers pretty quickly.
It is a three prong plug.

The plugs are the normal US three prong..or at least my 15x15 press is. I did not go with th 16x24...because in several years at this, I have only had 2...maybe 3 ..requests for anything over 15 inches. besides the 16x24 has the width as the wide point..takes up more real estate that I don't have. I think either sunie.com or proworld are the sources for the presses. Guess Proworld is not carrying the larger size and I sure don't blame them...
Thanks ppl! Good point...16x24 is pretty wide. I don't think at this point I am going to be doing mouse pads or anything that would need to be grouped to utilize the 24". I most likely will just be doing easyweed pressings on shirts.
So 15x15 it is...I can get acclimated to a heat press and always go bigger/better if there is ever a need. (just thinking out loud). I think I am going Proworld. I know a lot of ppl used sunie.com, but this page kinda scares me SunIE.com <=See anything weird there?
Now I just have to figure what to do about my dedicated 20 amp circuit...I rewired it to fit my BBC flash prong and I want to use this circuit for my press.

*NO, I won't run them both at the same time!*
=>But I am still curious about anyone with a 16x24 Sunie!
Fbomb...I took quick glance ...saw nothing weird...but the site is legit and so is the location...Carson City, Nv..I was close enough to go there to get my press

Haha...Click the link and look at the images for each catergory!
I am not bashing Sunie.com! I've read nothing bad about them. I even read about your (I think) experience with them meeting you on a Sunday. I just got a good chuckle at their imagery.
I think I'll go with Proworld, just because they are a sponsor and are on the east coast.
I emailed the Sunie site you referred to back a few months ago and they never emailed me back so I started looking for another place to find a Sunie and found ProWorld and "SO" glad I did.

Just be wary of the fuse that comes installed in the machine, unless they have changed it since I ordered mine over a year ago. It was a GREAT press until that fuse failed me and melted down the wiring.
I'm not downing the press and had I had enough time to fool with it I might have switched it out....but....I was in a rush, bought a Mighty Press and never looked back.
I loved that press for the first 9 months.....it was AWESOME......but the fuse is/was suspect
I know this post a bit old, but I have a Sunie 4801 heat press machine and the instructions on the transfer says, temperature 368 and pressure 55-60 lbs.
The temperature I can easily determine, but not the pressure. The Sunie machine has a pressure knob, but I have no idea on how to determine the pressure. Does anyone know how I can about determine the pressure on this machine.
I have had one for 2 years they are good for abit then they break down. The fuse box melted on mine after the first year(easy to bypass). Temprature was never has hot as the display registered. Now the thermostat has gone and the wiring is fraid. Time for a new one. I think I'll get a better quality on this time
