Discuss the different brands and sizes of heat presses available on the market, including Hix, GeoKnight, Hotronix, and other smaller manufacturers. Topics include maintenance, selection, styles and more.
Hey Folks- I just purchased a used Hotronix and being over zealous and under informed I pressed a vinyl letter onto a shirt and I guess you should use a teflon sheet maybe? But anyhow, I have this vinyl stuck to the heat platen. Any ideas on the proper way to get it off? Thanks in advance!
Yes, use a silicone coated paper or teflon sheet to protect the platten. You probably used too much pressure if it went through the shirt and onto the platten like that. You can adjust the pressure back on most heat presses.
Just wipe it off with acetone or lacquer thinner....BUT BE SURE IT'S TURNED OFF! Tose are very flammable products.

What kind of vinyl did you press? I've never had vinyl stick to the platen except one time when I accidently put a safety strip vinyl piece upside down and that's a different type of vinyl then standard heatpress vinyl.
