Default Pressing cotton shirts

I have primarily used 50/50 shirts but recently have had pleny of requests for 100% cotton. I am using Thermoflex Plus and Hotmark 70 for multi-layer lettering. Neither of them say anything about preheating the shirts. Question is this. Is the moisture content in the cotton hurting the adhesion when applying these vinyls?

Hi Pat, I always pre heat a garment until all the steam is done coming off the material. Lift the press a few times to check. I would have to say moisture would not be good.

Yes - moisture/chemicals are not good for adhesion - this problem is even more prevalent when dealing with synthetic fabrics such as polyester or nylon jerseys.

I find the best way to preheat to continually tap the press against the garment and let the steam release. When you lock the press down, a lot of the steam is still trapped into the garment.
