I am new to the whole heat transfer process. I want to do my labeling by heat transfer. What kind and size of press should i get?
Also can i get a cap press? it seems ideal but im not sure what the complications of the platen being bent is? Is it hard to compensate for the stretch?
Re: need a press for labeling tees, any suggestions?
Depending on the transfers brand, if all you will be doing are labels, a non-steam iron would work.
Otherwise, while a cap press will work, if you are going to spend that kind of money I would get one that can do other things too. Even a small 11 X15 or so would be better, and cost about the same, as a cap press.

No more so than burning the shirt with a hat press.
The transfer paper you use will tell you the press time. www.tshirtsupplies.com sells Jet Pro Soft Stretch transfers (arguably the best transfers for lights) that can be hand ironed. They recommend 30 seconds with heavy pressure.
