Hi there, I was decided to buy a 16x20 Stahls Maxx when I came across a Hix ht-600. It appears to me the it has a digital pressure gauge, which would be interesting to have, for an xtra $80 (compared to the Maxx). Now I checked other sites, and found differents ht-600, there is a D model as well. Is this true? are there Hix ht-600 without the pressure meter? Am I better of getting the Maxx? The hix mechanism looks stronger, being the pressure applied by a four screw plate, the Maxx and its over center pressure system does not seem so rugged. Comments?? thanks.
PS. Is the temp on the Hix adjusted digitaly from 0 to 10 or it shows in degrees?
I have not bought a press yet but i do know that the 16 x 16 hottronix has a pressure gauge that went from 0 - 10. I thought that was pretty cool, takes the guess work out of it, and with me being new i think it would take some of the learning curve out of it. Hopefully someone with more experience can ellaborate.
The new model Hix is the HT-600 P (standing for Pressure Readout). It replaced the HT-600 D - which just used to be digital but didn't have the pressure readout. They don't make the D any longer.
Having a Digital Pressure readout does take the guessork out of it, I agree.
It's a nice feature to have in my opinion as well.
