Default What's the most effective way to heat transfer photos?

Hello I am interested in trasnferring a black and white photo to a white t shirt. Many say that DTG or Screen Printing (using a 1 colour separation on a halftoned image) would work best

However, I am keen to see if it is possible to achieve a decent look using heat transfers. The reason being the garment is going to be a test run and limted to a 10-20 pieces.

I came accross this t shirt and was just wondering how it would be possible to heat transfer the photogrpahic part (the image of the lady) witout having noticable edges around it. Also the applied this on top of the foil writing - i thought this is not possible with screen printing i..e to screen print above foil?

You can try the self-weeding ImageClip transfer paper for inkjets or laser. They trim the polymer around the image.

Depending upon the desired finished look, you could also contour cut different heat transfer papers with a vinyl cutter.

As in print the design of lady onto say inkjet transfer paper and then convert this to a vector image and cut the outline using a vinyl cutter?

Sure. With the right paper and equipment, it's no big deal.
