Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Does any one know of a place that will cut my T shirt paper (JPSS), I would print the paper on my Epson R1900, say 25 sheets at a time. (or so) and then have someone run it through a cutter, then when I press it , it would come off the shirt in two steps, first the boarder then design part.?
It has to be in vector format saved as an .eps file, you have to convert image to vector in corel draw x4 or similar program or inkscape is am free sourse vector program. but these programs require time and practice with tutorial to learn how to vector the image.
Then the cutting program with the vinyl cutter will cut the contour.
you also need a vinyl cutter that can contour not all do most are designed for sign making.
I have had to learn all of this myself also in order to contour cut. There's a learning curve if u need the stuff right away there's a company on the net that vectors it for u 15.00 to 25.00
It has to be in vector format saved as an .eps file,
I just checked some You Tube Videos. The Roland GX 24 software (for one) Can take a .JPG image and create an outline the plotter can cut. The GX24 costs $1,600 though. So if I could get some one to do the cutting for me for , say, $1.00/Image,
the ROI on the purchace would be 1,600 shirts. Doing 25 shirts/month ... Well you get the picture.
They have to be local close to you but you have to put the registration marks on it when you print the image, they woun't be able to do it unless they print.
You can get a US cutter with lazer for about 300.00, I have a seiki I paid 227.50 + shipping on ebay I suggest u get the us cutter better support.
If he were to send the file that he used to print then couldn't the person cutting just open it and use the Roland plug-in to send to the cutter and cut?
I contour cut dark transfer paper no problem, it is vinyl you still have to vectorize it in order to contour cut or it may be the plotter software. but everybody I know has to vector it. Thats why on ebay you see all these ads for clipart in vector format
What I do a lot is heat transfer vinyl you dont have to contour, the cutter cuts what you want and you heat press it no ink to bleed or fade works great on dark shirts if its letters or logos, or clipart not photos
I agree that heat transfer vinyl is a better choice...if you only have a couple of colors, but if you need a full color image...just not possible unless you have a solvent printer.
