Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
i can test durabrite transfer with dry cleaning liquid... i think thats what it is... we use it to blast plasticol ink spots out of the shirts when we get mistakes on em... at work. ill try to remember to do it tommorrow... although my shirt is 100% cotton.. cause i thought i heard, 50-50... not so good for transfers...? no?
Thanks Jimiyo,
I was just curious about dry cleaning T's. Sold 4 durabrite transfer T's for Christmas to a lady who owns a dry cleaner. I gave her wash instructions she handed back to me, said she did not need them cause she would clean them at her dry cleaners. I was hoping for an answer before she cleaned them so I could warn her if I needed to.
Well sorry the answer is too late but i have the answer... Dont dry clean.
I shot my shirt with the stuff that dry cleaners use (smells like nail polish remover a bit) and although it didnt break up immediate, it did start breaking down. Took a beating though.
My experience has been that the 50/50 T's has more elasticity than a full cotton shirt.
A pigment print on 50/50 when pulled will show some white between the threads but when released will go back together resulting in a good picture again on the shirt.
Full cotton shirts when pulled will seperate in the threads and will not go back together as good as a 50/50.
Others may get different results, but I love 50/50.
I have not heard from the dry cleaning lady. Thought about walking down to the cleaners and asking. She let me know she did not need my advice on washing the shirts because cleaning clothes was her business. So, if I ask her about it and she has ruined them, then she might be embarrassed. I would hate for her to ask for her 100 dollars back. Her business is beside mine and could make for a hostile work environment.
Today if I get time I might walk over to her business for a friendly chat and see if she brings it up. The results could be a value to the board members here.
It would be interesting for you and other members to know, but I can see why you wouldn't want to bring it up. I'd let it go if I were you too... it's interesting, but how often is it going to be relevant? Not many people would dryclean a t-shirt
I got the answer !
Dry clean lady walking past my store, I just happen to come out at the same time.
During the conversation she mentioned she had washed her shirts several times since Christmas and they look really good, she was impressed. I acted suprised that she did not dry clean them and she said, " Dry cleaning with " Perk " will crack the prints, so she just washes hers.
