Default Best of Both Worlds : Printers

Hello Everybody,

First I want to say this forum is awesome! I have learned a lot already, since I found it a few days ago. I am a graphic designer and sign maker and have wanted to start designing and making my own shirts for years now. Enough procrastination!

I have searched the forums for hours and other yahoo groups.

So if you can help me out it will be much appreciated.

I want to purchase 2 printers capable of printing larger than 8.5 x 11"
One for pigment Inks the other Sublimation. I am looking for quality and Value and would like to Refill using bulk inks for now to avoid complications and space issues with CIS. It seems there are mixed reviews on the Epson 1280? Is the Epson R1800 or R2400 worth the extra money? Do you recommend used printers (2000, 3000)?

Is the C88 worth getting for one of my printers? I know it's 8.5 x 11" but are the production costs of operating it significant enough to sacrifice size?

I will seek help for transfers and ink once I decide on a printer.

Thanks for your input,
Ken

Welcome to the forums!! You should start by searching the forums for Epson Printers, Pigment Inks or Sublimation - You will find TONS of threads reguarding these things.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along to help =) I have the Epson 7800, It is only 8.5 x 11, but it came with pigment inks, and so far is doing the trick for us, Only 1 time did we have to use 2 transfers, we did the image on one, and words on the other, but So far so good!

I don't really have much knowledge about the results of any of the other printers you asked about. But like I said, someone will come along to help soon!

Welcome aboard!

not familiar with those printers also.
we use a Xerox Color Lazer Copier (CLC) with Xerox 11x17 transfer paper media. You can fire the art from your coputer too. Multi purpose machine never breaks down.

others may come along soon and give more specific answers about the printers you are talking about.

good luck.

The Epson 1280 does prints larger than 8 1/2 by 11".

Also, I think the epson 4800 is one that I learned about recently here. It can do BOTH dye sub and regular transfers. Wide format printer:
Epson Stylus Pro 4800, Overview - Product Information - Epson America, Inc.

I think the 4800 might be the best of both worlds, but it's expensive
