Hello,

I've been searching through the forum and I'd just like to ask to get a better understanding.....
I was planning to screen print my tees until I met someone with a hotronix press who will let me use it for free. I am doing high end tees and was first wondering should I stick with screen printing for quality or will heat press be good?

As far as the equipment, I obviously will use her heat press and I will purchase a commercial grade transfer paper as suggested on here but I just have a basic hp 950c deskjet printer. What are my options for getting the design on the paper since I'm thinking my printer is not good for a high quality print. I do want everything to have a worn, vintage look so if anyone can suggest a printing option or let me know if I could use a basic printer, that would be great.

Maybe I need to get a company to screen print the designs on???

Hi Melissamack

It depends on the scale of your operation. If your just doing odd jobs here and there, using a heat press will be fine.

But if you want to go down a more retail route and mass produce then you cannot beat screen printing for quality!

You can use most standard inkjet printers, it's the ink that's more important. I use pigmented inks with my epson 1400. I also use a CIS system it makes the ink last a lot longer (usually longer than, 3 sets of regular cartridges) so it saves a lot of money in the long run.

Consider plastisol transfers too.

Since you have a heat press at your disposal I would consider plastisol transfers instead of inkjet transfers.
Check the forum there is a list of vendors.

Thanks for the responses....I'm starting out with 100 tees and will continue with batches of 100 every time I release a new design....I will look into plastisol, thanks!
