Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
When I first read the title my mind went to the flash dryer as that thing is hot but a heat press.
Never had a problem where the heat from the heat press heat my eyes. You can feel the heat but it is mostly on my hands and arms but only for a second or two can't imagine the heat getting to your eyes.

Care to tell how you are doing things?

Well I just put my nose on the pad and close the heat press for 20 seconds
More seriously, it takes me about 15 seconds to get the t-shirt REALLY straight. Press opening only at 30 degrees or so, the space to visualize what I am doing at the other extremity of the pad is rather narrow. Maybe my nose is too big. Or my brain is too small
You mention 1-2 seconds... Wow, that's fast.
You mean you just throw the tee on the pad and it is immediately straight ? Please tell me your secret.

This is my process, I take the shirt fold it in half then press for 5 to 6 seconds. This give me the center line. I then place the transfer 4 fingers from the neck centered on the line and press for recommended time. Quick and easy.
My suggestion is to place the shirt on the pad with the armpit seams equidistant from the edge of the pad. It does not have to be exact but it is very easy to eyeball. Then place the transfer so the image is about 3 inches below the neck rib (lower for xxl and larger). It is not difficult to center the design. You don't have to be exact. We print hundreds of shirts each day with this method. It takes us about 5-10 seconds to prepare a shirt for printing...and we have never had a problem as you mentioned with your eyes...or burns on the hands.
Also, a 30 degree opening is very small. Most clamshell machines are in the 50+ degree range.
