I am surely you can find tons of info here regarding your business. To start of, you may want to start with your designs in mind, this will determine whether you need to go with heat press or screen print. Being new, I would start with heat press method and as you go along, you would certainly learn more about other process of printing. Get a decent and biggest size heat press that you can afford, get samples of different transfer papers from vendors then enjoy designing and pressing. Feel free to browse around on info that you need as you can find a lot of them in this forum. Goodluck!!

I agree with Francis, there is a ton of info here. It really depends on what type of designs you have
that will determine which direction you should go. If you are doing one or two color designs with clean lines, you could use heat press vinyl. If your designs have more color and detail an easy way to go about doing this is having plastitol transfers made for you, that you would just apply as you get orders. Or if you are looking for making larger amounts of shirts at one time you can have them screen printed or learn to do it yourself, that would depend on how far you want to get into making the prints yourself. If you are wanting to print them yourself and you have a large amount of colors and detail, there is also DTG printing. This is great for short runs with lots of colors and details.
There are a ton of options available to you and you can find all the info on them here.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask, but those options listed should be able to give you a direction to research to find what method you are most interested in Good luck with your new venture.

With your budget, that should get you started with either process (silkscreen or heat transfer). I would say start looking at your design, how intricate your designs are will dictate the right process for you. Like I've mentioned, if you are fairly new to this, I will start with heat transfer as you develop your knowledge, technique and experience on design and applications. Get a good size heat press, at least 16x20 (with all over designs in market right now, you may end up doing them also, getting small heat press will limit you on this type of applications), with brand, I would do your search here in forum and do your best judgement as to what other people say about their heat press, look into quality and support experience by other users. I personally use Stahls Hotronix, and so far I never had any problem and very much happy with it. Get sample pack from vendor of different transfer paper and vinyl and try them on, you may want to try plastisol transfer also just in case you end up with the design that calls for screen print, all this info are available here in forums, once you are happy with the results, then order your stock, stick with it, enjoy and start getting crazy to sell them. Goodluck!!

If you have corel or adobe program, scan it directly from the program and see if you have to tweak it a little bit, once you get it clean up you're good to go as printing and press. Goodluck and have fun!
Re: I need to find out what it is needed to start my own heat pressing biz
thank you all i have made up my mind
im going with a package deal that comes with a clamshell 16x20
and an epson printer with the the ink software and ink
i was gonna use my brother printer but it leaves dots
it costs about 2000 and has shirts too
but if i dont want the border of the paper that isnt used do i need a cutter
which is best ??
Re: I need to find out what it is needed to start my own heat pressing biz
If you need a cutter for transfer paper to cut out the contour on the print, then you need a cutter with an optical registration eye like Roland GX-24, the cutter comes with a software that let's you print your design to transfer paper and can create a contour lines along the design, then once you print the design, it will create a registration mark for your cutter so any contour lines within the mark will automatically cuts by the cutter. Check with the vendor that you got your package, they may give you a better package deal together with the cutter. Otherwise, if the budget would be an issue, then checkout the ImageClip paper, you can find lots of info about it here in forum, you may want to get a samples too.
