Default How do you keep your shirts in place?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what you do to keep your shirts in place on the press when you hot peel the transfer paper so that it doesn't leave a "wavy" image.

This is happening on some of my shirts. The ink looks gooey as it peels. Maybe I'm using too much heat or not leaving it on for long enough?

Thanks for all helpful responses!

Kind regards,
Peter

Maybe you are right you may be not pressing at the right time and temp because I just pull mine off and I don't have this problem.

What type of transfer paper are you using?

I have a problem with the transfer actually grabbing the shirt so hard that it pulls the image out of shape a bit sometimes. To offset that, most times I just pick up the shirt and stretch it while it's hot. The paper pops off a little and then I peel. Read that here somewhere and it works great, unless I forget to do that.

I think maybe you need more pressure, heat, and/or time, too.

Hey, what paper are you using, and what settings are you pressing with?

I have never had this happen. My transfers always peel like butter. Kelly if I am not mistaken you use JPSS. Is this the paper you are experiencing this with?

Hi Katrina...

Yes, I use JPSS for the whites, and yeaah, sadly, it's been a problem since the start for me. The best way I could describe on the forum was a velcro'ish grip on the shirt. I've met some other members along the way getting JPSS to peel like butta, and they tried to help me, but I just haven't been able to duplicate their methods with success.

Do you have some help for me? How do you get yours to peel like butter? I'm still wishing for that! Thanky, thanks!!! I'll try anything, I've tried everything anyone's told me.

Thanks, Katrina!!

Must be the paper, I have no idea why it peels so easy for me but it does. I just follow the instructions. I wish I had a crafty method of doing it but I guess it's just luck.

Thanks, anyway, Katrina. Maybe it's my shirt choice, too. Who knows? I'm just in that group. Others have the same kind of peel. I"m glad you're in the lucky "butter peel" group!!

I still love the paper, it's not worth changing to something else for me. I wonder where the OP went to?

Hey guys, thanks for replying. Sorry - I only just got an email saying I had replies!

I use JPSS on Hanes 50/50 on 310F for 25sec. I'll try the 'stretch' technique to see if it pops up, Girlzndollz. I'm having the same problem as you - it's hard to initially get the xfer to start pelling - I have to use tweezers! And only then does it peel in sections!

I've inc'd the pressure to no avail.

Girlzndollz, the 'stretch' technique works well! Not perfect but that's only because I havent mastered it, yet. Thank you!

You're very welcome. I was burning my finger using my nail and getting a somewhat skewed design from the tough pull - until I read that tip here somewhere, glad it works for you, too!!! Happy pressing.
