Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Is anyone from the Tulsa area and be willing to help out a person in distress? We are trying to do transfers for our employees to wear to save money. Paying others to do it is killing us. The problem is I just can get it right! I can't get all of the ink to stick to the shirt!
Please help!!! Thanks in advance!!
We are using 100% cotton shirts. I have been using JPSS transfer paper from Alltransfers.com. My press is Sunie Seiki Plat Heat Press 4801 from Pro World. I use an Epson printer. I just started this week and I am getting very frustrated. I can't get all the ink to stick to the shirt. I have the heat at 360ish and press for 20 seconds per instructions form paper website. As I stated in the post we are trying to save money by printing our own shirts and after all my research I thought transfer would be easier than screen printing. I need someone to take me by the hand and speak very slowly!!! I am very eager to learn but my frustration is growing! Do you have a business in Tulsa? I am so thankful for any help.
I am peeling hot. I know some ink will stay but this is really bad. Do you think it could be the paper? So far I am only using white shirts. I have some better than others but for the most part I wouldn't let any of our employees where anything I have done! By the way, you are in Tulsa right? Have you done any custom OSU rhinestones?
I am in Minnesota,, and yes I have done some custom Rhinestone for the above mentioned..
ok back the shirts,,
1.has one turned out ok?
2.Is there one specific area that is not looking good over and over again?
3. did you let your press heat up for 15 to 20 minutes before using it?

I can't really say how long I have let it heat up. I wait until it is at the right temp on the machine. I can't say that any one area looks better than the other. We put a level on the press to make sure it is distributing evenly. I will let it heat for at least 20 min. Should I be putting anything over the transfer when I press it?
you should have gotten a teflon sheet,, that goes over the tranfer to protect your plate to incase some ink gets on the plate, so youdont make a mess on your next white shirts,,
prepress you shirt for 5 seconds, to take moisture out, you are pressing 100 % cotton right,,?
not that you need to only press 100% cotton.
I asked this before,, but have not got a answer yet, have you pressed one good shirt?
do you have any stock transfers from ed, at proworld, if you do take a shirt already wrecked,,
and cut up the transfer into 6-10pieces,, and start pressing it in different areas,, of the plate,, see if any come out good.. I would also put a call into ed in the morning, You may have a machine with cold spots,, Ed will take care of it, he has great customer service.. hang in there

Kelli, I think that JPSS works at many different temps and times for different machines! I run my JPSS at 360ish (Like you) for 20 sec and had the same problem of all the ink not coming off so i did 360ish for 40-45 seconds and it turns out great!
I thought I had a cool spot on my platen when I tried JPSS. Turned out I just wasn't using enough pressure or high enough heat. I use 380 for 25-30 seconds with very firm pressure. I had to reread the instructions for my press to get the pressure set right.
Could you post some pictures of the shirts so we can see exactly what is happening?
