Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
So my order is due in 12 hours. Customer wants 12 shirts.
I have 12 white blanks, and all I have is my friend's inkjet printer and transfer paper. The paper which I tested is smooth when pressed, and does not take much to pull and crack. I tried weeding out the unused goods, but it seems impossible to get all the unused detail out, because they are letters. To get 12 transfers weed'd would take hours. Is there any way to make life easier.
An hero?
That's a tough one. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a DTG or heat press shop that could do the job in the morning. A rush job will probably not be cheap, though.
Working with what you have, I don't know if you have the latitude to change the artwork at this point, but if so, you could change the design so it doesn't require weeding. Usually, the easiest way is to put a background color behind your design. Circles tend to look better than blocks. Trim to the circle and apply.
BUT... you are still not going to get professional results. Not even close, really. Cracking and peeling will likely still be a problem, depending on the paper you are using.
i contacted my customers, said that they can postpone their event one or two days later. so that gives me time.
Where are some places that can make me have the more professional look. Granted same day shipping. :, what DO i Need to give it that professional look. Its all the same color, black. on white.
Jake, are you looking to have someone make the shirts for you now, or are you looking for better paper to use?
Also, since you are talking letters, it could be possible (depending on where you are, and who may be near you) to have someone cut and weed these out of vinyl for you and send them to you, or you could pick them up if someone is close to you.
This idea is in addition to the DTG suggestion Jeff gave you, which is a great idea, btw.
What is it you think you are looking for with this job? In house still, or outsourcing it?

Well, Jake, you didn't make it back yet, and I am ready to sign off. I would have moved this thread over for you if you needed a Ref & Rec, but we will have missed each other now.
If you would like to have the shirts printed for you, instead of doing them yourself, and if you are interested in having someone from the forum "recommend" a printer for you, then please go to the Referrals and Recommendations section of the forum. You can find it here: http://www.t-shirtforums.com/referrals-recommendations/
If you do decide to go that route, please give as many details as possible. If someone knows of a printer in your area, they can recommend them, and if someone from the forum offers that service, they may also recommend themselves for the job. Screen each recommendation much in the same way you would when getting a contact from any other source.
If you still want to do the job yourself with heat press paper, and would like a better paper, or if you want to discuss different print methods, please feel free to continue on with this thread, and we all will help you the best we can.
Some transfer papers, like Jetpro Sofstretch, are much, much better quality than other papers. JPSS doesn't crack or peel, is soft to the touch, stretches with the fabric, and in some cases, especially with white shirts, the polymer window (part of the transfer that is not printed) does not even show on the shirt. White shirts with JPSS (Jetpro Sofstretch) are the best for that.
Well, best wishes, and I hope the job works out, either way. Good luck.
