Several people had sold or gave away their press and subed out their work to the person who bought the equipment.
What is you opinion on demand, customers (who buys) & profit? After watching Josh's videos for the August give away it has peaked my interest again.

I was on the same page as you but I kept turining down business or trying to subcontract work. It got to the point that I wanted to try it and see what happend.
So far I have had for about a month and have had 3 jobs. I think that shirts are at a higher demand but to me its another way to bring in money. I think as time goes on I will see it pay off. One thing is you can use it for other things as well such as sleeves and left chest prints on shirts and also its perfect for appling logos to shorts and labeling shirts.
I am very happy so far that I took the chance and I see it being very profitable in youth sports and such. Visors are a big with moms and when you look into embroidery you are limited to size with the cap hoop and with this I could put the same size logo as that white hat above in about 1.5" in hieght. Yes weeding takes more time but also in my eyes profit will be greater. I charged $7 for that print above. Customer brought the hat and I had it done in an hour. He was so impressed now he is ordering printed hats. HE paid $12 for that hat and $7 for the print. I told him I could get him a hat and print for about $10-$12 dollars. material goes alot further BUT the reason I am charging $7 dollars a print is because I am taking more time to weed out the design plus it was a single order. THe way I have my business set up is single orders are more and the more you order I give discounts. So if he orders 12 hats he will be paying $10 a hat if he buys 24 hats I will charge $9. I will not go lower than $8 a hat..
Now the good thing is NO digitizing fee and if someone only wanted 1 hat I could do it for $10-$15 depending on hat and design but NO 30-$70 digitizing fee plus hat and embroidery wich would be more or less the same price as I charge for a hat.
I hope this makes sense to you and I think if you have had people in the past asking about hats and you have sent out work you should invest if this is your primary source of income. For me this is what I am doing for a living. Graphic Design and Printing so the more I offer a customer the more I become a 1 stop shop.
There is that saying build it and they will come
My saying is invest in it and they will come
