Default Foiling for the at home novice?

I would love to try doing some foiling on shirts and ribbons, but don't want to go crazy on printers, etc. Are there any products that can be used with basic home items?? I would love to try the self-weeding paper(to do stripes, etc)-- can it be used in a regular HP printer???

Any help, brands, etc would be soooo appreciated

Thanks!
Nicole
