Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I just finished a job of athletic shorts that are 50/50 cotton poly blend. I used white eco-film. I followed the instructions for the eco-film. Pressing to get moisture out etc. My design is just an outline of a heart with the number 10 in it.
I tried 10 seconds at first and my transfer did not want to stick, so I changed to approx 15 seconds. I hot peeled it. Everything seemed fine and I delivered to customer. Now customer is bringing the shorts back because the transfer is peeling up. Did I not press long enough? Can you over press? Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated as I am new to the business.
Thanks!
Sounds like it might be an issue with the pressure. I had this problem when I did my first pressing with Eco-Film. The pressure I used was too light and didn't let the adhesive properly set in the fabric. It looked fine at the time but it started coming loose with wear. With Spectra Eco-Film you'll want to use medium to firm pressure. Remember the density of your garment will effect the final pressure. Try a different pressure setting and after you do a test transfer and the garment cools do a stretch test and see if the edges are lifting. When I say "stretch test" I mean a general use type of stretch not a Stretch Armstrong stretch.

Good info - my thoughts exactly.
You'll also want to preheat the shorts to get the moisture out.
