Pressed my first mousepad and it is yellowish, help!
OK, I just pressed my first item ever and it did not go as planned.
I pressed an image that was png image of a painting to a white mousepad. It was printed with an Epson C88+ on TransJet II transfer paper.
I pressed with the Hix Swingman 15 at 375 for 22 seconds. When I opened the press and swung it away the how transfer and pad was attached to the bottom of the press and swung with it. At first I paniced and thought it melted to the bottom but I tugged on the paper and they fell right off the bottom.
I peeled the paper off which came off very easy but the image has a yellowish tint through-out.
Any suggestions on what caused that and how to prevent it?

well, its been a while since i presssed a mouse pad but the same thing happend to me back then. I was pressing for too long. If there is too much extra paper around the perimiter of the Mouse pad, it will stick to the bottom plate.
Try it less time like 10-12 seconds to see what happens and trim the paper close to the maouse pad edges.
Re: Pressed my first mousepad and it is yellowish, help!
OK, I am totally frustrated. I have called Coastal and Hix and both were very nice but I am still having issues. Coastal had me try several different things such as lowering the temp and time. I have also lowered the amount of yellow in adavanced print options which helped but still not right. Attached is a photo of the mousepads. Middle top is the image on plain paper and this is what it should look like. The pad in the top right corner is the best but still yellow on their faces and the house, just not as bad and that is with the yellow all the way down at -25 the lowest you can set it.
Also you can see the in the bottom row the middle one is all white and wierd looking and the one on the bottom right when I pulled up part of the transfer did not transfer and I put it back down and did for a little longer and it stuck.
Re: Pressed my first mousepad and it is yellowish, help!
Check the boards for c88 printer settings and ink. I think there are several posts about reducing yellow by -20 and increasing the other colors +5. I may be wrong on those settings so check the posts for info.
Oops...I see you reduced yellow...so boost the other colors may be the answer.
Re: Pressed my first mousepad and it is yellowish, help!
The image is set at 200 PPI and I have tried both TransJetII and Coastal Jet Light.
From what I have read the TransJetII is one of the most recommended papers so I am not sure if it is the paper. Is 200 PPI too much and if so, what should I be dropping it to?

I think it may be trial and error until you get optimum results. I am just throwing out things I have read on the forum. Hang in there because I know someone with more digital transfer experience is going to pop up soon. You might try calling one of the forum sponsors that sell the Epson printers and paper and see if they can recomend proper settings....Best Blanks, Coastal or Imprintables Warehouse.

I appreciate all your help,

I searched the c88 posts and they are generally all +5 and anywhere from-5 to -20 on the yellow. I did notice they where using text/photo as a setting if that helps.
Re: Pressed my first mousepad and it is yellowish, help!
Thanks. I am all the way down to -25. Not sure where to select text photo as an option. I am printing in Adobe RGB mode in Photoshop CS selecting bright white plain paper and normal quality.

Might be in the quality section where you selected normal quality. Wish I could help ya more...I know it can be nerve wracking at times.

I don't see it in there. Maybe somebody knows. I appreciate your help. It is nerve wracking as I was hoping to make some Christmas gifts and now need to re-think my plans if I can't get this right in time.
Re: Pressed my first mousepad and it is yellowish, help!
"Normal" is the same as "text/photo" quality.
Sounds like you've tried all the normal causes of this problem. When we had yellowing on our shirts, changing it to -15/+5/+5 fixed the problem instantly with no further problems.
Since you are having continued problems, you may try some 3rd party inks such as the Magic Mix set. These should work fine with no color profile adjustments at all.
A random thought is to try printing with a teflon sheet over the top as well, though I don't suspect this will actually help much.
