Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I'm in the market for a heat press and I'm wondering what heat press I should buy. I found the Hotronix® Auto Opening Clam 16x20 which claims to have no cold spots, but I don't know the maximum temperature it reaches and it's a bit expensive. You guys have any tips?
As most know I use the 15 x 15 Mighty press from Coastal Business. It does what I want and it is priced a little over $600. I bought this based on my budget. if you can afford to go bigger then do so. I wouldn't worry too much about temperature as I know what your looking at will do any temperature required for the job. It is pricey for sure. My Might press has an automatic opener also As soon as the loud buzzer goes off I automatically open it..

Most any good machine will not have cold spots. Also, applying an image on transfer paper is quite easy and you might want to base your decision on your projected needs. If you are only going to be using transfer paper (most likely 8 1/2 x 11), and not anticipating high volume, I would recommend a 15x15 manual machine. However, if your anticipating high volume then a semi automatic would be a nice feature since you only have to close the platen manually and get the advantage of the automatic open. It is somewhat more pricey, also.
