Printer seems to be dry, have not used in 60 or 90 days or so
Hi, I have an epson 1280 with a bulk ink unit, i have not used the printer in about 60 days (very busy with the horrible day job). I have ran several cleanings, but it will not print correctly, 3 different colors are not printing at all, including the black. Any suggestions how i can get it back up and running. I also noticed that a lot of the ink in the bulk unit has evaporated, but the black has plenty, is that normal?

I don't know how the 1280 is setup, but it should be similar. This is what I did to help get rid of clogs in mine. I can even let it sit for a month or longer with no clogging. Push the ink button as if you were changing a cartridge. Once the cartridge moves into the center of the printer, unplug it.
Now take a syringe or something to hold some Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel can be found at a store in the same location as rubbing alcohol. It is used to clean your skin without taking the oil out. Look where the head was sitting and you should see a metal grate with a sponge inside. Fill that up all the way with Witch Hazel. Next, turn the printer back on and it should run through a cycle. After that, you should be able to run a regular cleaning cycle, then print a nozzle check to see what happened.
This completely cleared my clogs and they have not come back, months later. If the 1280 doesn't have a grate with a sponge, there should be something there that will absorb the witch hazel.
