Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I've landed a very large contract for my shop. It'll be 300-500 shirts 2x a year. One ready every Memorial Day and the other ready every Labor Day. The graphics change each run. He wants a one color design on the back that's usually about 12 x 12 (this is just lettering - the name of his business and such), a muti-color design on the front that's about 10 x 12 and a logo on front that's about 4" Anyone know a place that could print the transfers for me and I'd do the heat press part myself. I've never had to out source so I just don't know where to start. Oh and a round about figure of having that done would be great too cuz I don't even know what I should pay per sheet for this.
We looked around locally for a screenprinting business (we do heat apply w/transfers & vinyl) that did transfers. On larger jobs such as yours we let them actually screen the shirts and we have a set profit margin for us. 300-500 shirts is a LOT of time and you should consider what your time is worth. It's actually cheaper for them to screen it and we still make a profit.
With today's economy we wanted to use a local company and have been very fortunate to establish a great relationship with ours.
outsourcing to a screenprinter will most likley be your most cost efficient method. Just drop ship the shirts to them, then either have them shipped to you, or go pick them up. (if close enough)
We have been on both sides, I have contracted work out, and had some work sent in to me.
