Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hi, greetings from Houston. I was thinking about getting the swing away Geo Knight 12x14 press or the Hix 15x15 press. I only want to press items the width of t-shirts and smaller. Which one would you all recommend?. I also would like to know who makes sublimation transfers that I can press on myself. I want to turn my own artwork into sublimation tranfers but I don't have the printer yet.
Thanks.
have you measured an xlarge shirt or 2x. I did some stocktransfer with dogs and the transfers were 14 x 14.. you are limiting yourself. Get the 15 x 15 minimum. PLEASE!!!!

If you want to do sublimation on t-shirts consider a printer that will use the tabloid size paper (11x17). Also, there is a new paper out there that works on cotton and cotton blends called duracotton98. This paper is for laser only with this process. I have not been able to get anything except letter size but hopefully they will correct their ways and offer larger formats soon. It can also be used as a pre-treatment for dye-sub transfers on non-poly material.
We have a GK swinger 20". The press runs about 25F degrees hotter than the digital reading. We use an instant read temp. tool to verify the temperature.
I would get a bigger press. I have a 15x15 and wish I would have saved for a bigger press. It's cool and it serves the purpose I needed one, but it limits me. If I wanted to do a bigger size, I'd have to pay to press on someones press.
