Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I recently purchased a Epson Stylus Colour 3000 with all documentation, 3 RIP CDs and spare ink for only £100. I was very very chuffed with this buy, and the previous user said it has been rarely used but is still in good working order.
This printer has is Adobe Postscript installed, and being completely new to this, thought that plug and play would work fine between the printer connected to my XP desktop using a printer to USB cable.
This printed out complete garbage, and the 'Paper Out' light consistently came up with every print job. This also came up on my desktop itself. This was happening from both the auto feed tray located at the bottom, and the manual feed at the top.
I then installed PowerRIP2000 onto this XP system, and the previous owner said it had worked fine for him on an XP system. Now, however, when i send a print job to the PowerRIP Printer, the job processess and spools, but goes straight to 'completeled', without any action from the printer. I have also tryed installing the StylusRIP software, but this only works for windows NT.
The ink heads are a little clogged, but still work somewhat, but i'd rather get the thing working before i attack the inks.
The previous owner said that he has used this printer on Windows 98, 2000 and NT without problems, and even XP. A RIP was installed onto the printer board, but he didnt mention which one.
Could anybody suggest where I'm going wrong or anything to do? I'm very hesitant to fork out for a new RIP software due to the price, and i'm afraid i wouldnt be able to use it properly anyway.
Thanks in advance for any help
Ollie

Hi Ollie,
I don't think that the 3000 has USB, it's parallel or an interface card - which are you using?
I suspect that it just hasn't been recognised.
The Postscript addition allows you to print separations from something like Corel - it might not handle halftones.
This shouldn't be a problem.
Hi Dave.
I've tried printing with both the Printer>USB cable and also the Parrallel Cable too, both have not worked. They both show the 'Paper Out' Icon on both the printer and computer.
I've only tried printing from programs such as WordPad, Microsoft Word, and Photoshop.
On a side note, I aquired a Epson Stylus 1160 Colour, a more modern A3 printer, last week. This is having the same paper feed problems, but I know for a fact that this printer works. The previous owner showed me a print as I was with him on his computer. Strange :/
