Which heat transfer paper is better, laser or inkjet?
hi forumers, i was wondering if someone could point me to thread(s) that compare durability, colorfastness, and accessibility between both laser and inkjet methods? Appreciate any input..thanks!
Re: Which heat transfer paper is better, laser or inkjet?
For me, laser transfers are better, only because the paper is generally cheaper (than inkjet transfers) and it's much faster to print using a laser printer. As for durability and color fastness, I would say that the papers are not the main factors there, as the type of ink used would dictate those. As the R&D of the transfer paper makers have improved a lot, both types (if from the same manufacturer) are fairly equal on those qualities.
Not sure what you mean by accessibility though.
p.s. I know a guy who uses laser transfers on his inkjet printer and heard no complains from him or his customers.

a lot of users really recommend pigment inks, but there are still some who uses dye inks and get acceptable results.
As for the laser printers, just the OEM or original toners are OK. Basically, whatever toner works on paper will work on transfer papers as well. It's the machine itself that you'll have to try first, because there are laser printers which uses very high fusing temperatures that it melts the polymer on the transfer papers.
As for my setup, we have 3 units of Canon iR C2550 (1 each in our 3 stores), and our first machine is the oilbased CLC1110, we still use as a backup in our main store. We have service contracts with Canon for all machines, so we just pay them per copied/printed papers and they take care of the servicing, including parts and toners. With that, we have a Hix auto-open, a manual Mightypress and a soon to arrive Geo Knight, all 16x20 sizes clam type heat presses.
Are you a Filipino Alex? I'm pinoy but I haven't been to Boracay yet. I guess I'll have to go there sooner before the algae takes over the water near the beach, .
