Default What heat press machine on a small budget?

I mainly make photo quilts and may some day venture into t-shirts. I would like to buy a economical heat press machine and would like some suggestions about what type of machine anybody could recommend. I am willing to spend up to $200-$250 dollars. I don't need an industrial one, perhaps maybe more of a hobby one. Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated. I couldn't find any forums for photo quilts and I thought this forum might be able to help me out. I have also checked the ones on ebay but most of them are no-name brands and I wasn't sure if they were any good or not. Thank you in advance.

check out Heat Press Machines: Discount T-Shirt Heat Press Transfer Machine<br> - although in my opinion it is a little small with only 15"x15".

with your budget limits you will probably have to buy a used machine / or a china import check out eBay...

good luck

When you set this budget, had you shopped around first, and looked at pricing of new machines, or was this intended to be for a used machine?

The ones that are considered hobby machines run in the size range of 9"x12". Depending on how big your quilt squares are, that may work for you. People have started out doing t-shirts at that size, but if they start there, they usually upgrade in size when $$ possible, because larger is better when it comes to press size.

In that price range, one of two ways is what I would suggest. Either, look for a used Brand Name press, or go with a new Sunie/Seiki 15x15 machine, like the one in the link in the previous post. I'd advise to stay away from cheap E-bay presses.

The heat press suggested to you in the last post is a Sunie/Seiki press. That is considered an off-brand press (meaning not Hix, Mighty Press, etc.). Unlike other off brand presses, the Sunie/Seiki's have a good reputation on the forum for delivering good service.

They are $299, a little above your budget. If you look at the link given, you'll see $169 with $299 in stock transfers purchased. *If* you need stock transfers, that is a good deal. Only a portion of the $299 can be in heat transfer paper purchases, so you will have to buy stock transfers to reach the $299. If you are not interested in buying stock transfers *at all*, and you are willing to up your budget $49 to $299, you can straight up purchase the press from that supplier for $299. If that interests you, then I would suggest you also look at this supplier of the press:
SunIE.com

For the same price, look at the legnth of warranty from each supplier.

For another $49 in the budget, I would buy a new Sunie at 15"x15". Used presses don't come with warranties. Most of the time, they don't transfer, and you'll never know the real reason why someone is selling a press. It could be a great deal, it might be someone else's headache. Good luck to you.
