Default Help with pressing

I wanted to get into pressing my own shirts for my business. I own an MMA gym and need to press to t-shirts, polyester (board shorts) and nylon/spandex (rashguards).

Before I invest alot of money in the equipment I just wanted some advice.

I am using a Geo Knight press for a trial run. It is new and seems to work well on some of the samples I have pressed thus far. I want to get the Hotronix Auto-Clam 16X20.

I have an OKI C5500 printer and bought some sample paper from Bestblanks. The printer is working well with the paper but I have some intriquet designs which is time consuming when I have to handcut it out.

1. How is the Self Weeding paper?
2. How does the Auto-Clam compare to the Geo Knight?
3. Are there specifics when pressing certain material? (nylon/spandex/polyester)
4. In regards to dark garments, my printer doesn't have white ink. Do I need a black background for any white images or designs?
What is the best option for using white on dark shirts.

Thanks again. Any help is appreciated.

Default Re: Help with pressing

These are just my own experiences but...

1) Have not used them a lot but was not happy with the result, there are quite a few topics about this and a search will net you lots of opinions on this
2)Don't use it, can't say
3)Yes there are, generally the instructions should come with the paper, if your unsure contact the manufacturer/supplier of the paper and ask for their recommendations
4)Generally the paper provides the "white" background. Depending on the logo's have you considered using vinyl on darks? You could get the cut vinyl supplied then just press them as you need, nice solid colour and quick.
