What is the best printer to use for the following purposes: copying, scanning, printing, heat transfers, and negatives for shirts. I am looking for one that is cost effective as for ink cartridges. I like the one by Kodak.

Check out the Epson line at Epson.com. The ink is not cost effective, but no ink is for inkjets. That's the way the mfg makes the money: ink. But if you buy something that has an acceptable 3rd party generic pigment ink and a refill cart set or bulk ink available, then you would be set up pretty good.

For transfers, pigment and Epsons work well. I'd double check with the screen printers which Epsons they like for negatives. Good luck to you.
