Default Lamination Basics

Hi all,

Please can someone provide me with some basic info on lamination? I am fairly new to the print industry and mainly out of interest I would like to know how business cards are laminated? I see all printing firms offer this as an additional option when order business cards and wondered if the paper/card/media already has the lamination applied or whether it layered over the top of the cards one printed and before they are cut?

Thanks in advance peoples.

They are liquid uv coated on the offset press after the cmyk colors are printed.

I think that could be OK, however if I'm not mistaken I think there is a smaller sized one.
