Default Producing Magnets Using Epson 1400

Hi, I am looking to produce my own vehicle/promotional magnets and have been advised that an Epson 1400 using Sublimation inks is the preferred choice. However, (and forgive me for if this sounds stupid) but would I need to heat press a design onto the magnet or could I simply print direct onto the magnet and that is the produce finished?

Whilst I am here, is there any advantage in purchasing an 1800 over a 1400?

Thanks for your help.

It kind of depends what kind/size of magnets you're doing. There is an inkjet magnet paper (8.5x11) you can run through an inkjet printer. There are also smaller magents that are specifically for sublimation. In that case, yes, you would need to heat press your image to the magnet.

I was also told by my potential supplier (of the Epson) that using sublimation inks wouldn't require require me to heat press the magnets afterwards. I guess that depends on the magnetic material though??

Thanks,

Simon

The sublimation magnets that I am familar with must have the image heat applied. Maybe there is another way of applying images with sublimation ink, Im not sure how that would work but would be interested to know. How were you told it would happen???
