Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I've spent probably all day searching the internet and I've yet to find a response to this (however I did find this forum!).
Recently I purchased this exact bag and I was looking for a way to spice up the blank front flap of it with an image or a design. The website of the company that makes the bags says that they`re made from a fabric called `cordura` which as far as I can tell is a type of very tough nylon.
Is there any special transfer paper I need to get an image to stick to this type of fabric? Keep in mind the only tools I have at my disposal are an inkjet printer, an iron, steady hands, and lots of patience. I`m not really looking to dump $250+ on a press machine since I will probably only use it for this one thing. I`m also looking for it to be as durable as possible and (hopefully) work right the first try since I don`t want to ruin this bag and have to buy a brand new one.
I figure if anybody can give me a definitive answer it`d be this place.
lets start off by asking are you planning on using a plastisol , Vinyl or digital
Because the Material your printed on is a textured nylon.
They make an additive to help inks bond to Nylon called Nylabond.
Its been my experiance with printing on nylon if you dont use the right stuff- It wont adhere to the fibers and fall off
Its too late now but call this number and they can stear you in the right direction

What's the difference between those three? (plastisol, vinyl, digital)
I know next to nothing about printing stuff onto other stuff.
Is there a transfer sheet available that has nylabond in it? Can I just use a regular inkjet printer and a household iron to transfer it? Can you explain this process a little more?
I'm not saying that
I know a Plastisol transfer will work
and a vinyl transfer might work but I can only tell you what I know & my knowledge base is not in the digital or vinyl

Can I use a plastisol transfer with a household iron? Or would I have to find a printing shop that has a heat press?
[edit] how much would it cost me if I gave a screenprinting company the photoshop files to print this image for me? One of my friend's says it'd cost a grand in initial setup charges for a one-off like that.
