Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hi, I am trying to heat press transfer express numbers on football jersey. I did a test and it looks pretty good, but the color(red) of the jersey is showing through the white number. Looking at the transfer paper it is also red. I am new at this. I preheated the heatpress and jersey and pressed it for 8 seconds @360 degrees waited 5 sec then peeled. Not sure if I need to heat longer/shorter time or higher/lower temp.
Is the problem getting worse over time (red continuing to bleed through)? If so it's a dye migration (bleeding) problem.
If you are applying onto 100% polyester the dye migration (bleeding) temperature is arount 360F. You need a transfer that applies below 340F to be safe.
Try applying at a lower temp to see if that helps.
thanks, I'll try this and also contact the manufacturer for their take. Originally I was going to use F&M numbers but I also need names for back of jersey and thought it would be easier to have them premade.
I'm not sure what the paper is, they are premade numbers from transfer express going on 100% polyester jersey, so you think letting it cool longer might help. Also i went back and read through the instructions and while i did preheat the lower platen I only did this for about 30 sec instead of 60 could this be a factor?
Try less pressure as well. I have used the Transfer express on augusta and teamwork jersey's without this issue. I believe these are a hot peel so don't let them cool too long before peeling.
I think your on track though with calling transfer express.
