Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Severly need help. I have been printing images onto ink jet transfer paper for over a year with not too many problems. I have just received a batch of jetwear dark paper and when I print the image it looks perfect, but when I press it onto a dark t-shirt, the colours look really faded and weak. Normally the dark paper I use is really vibrant. I thought the old stuff I used was jetwear dark (was sent from New Milford with the jetwear dark instruction sheet but no markings on the paper). This new stuff has 3 orange lines on the back. Not sure if the paper is at fault or I have somehow changed the settings on my computer when I print. Any ideas anyone???
p.s. Rather a novice at this (self taught) so don't know any of the technical terms!!
I am assuming you mean 200 Celsius??? If that's the case bring the temperature down to 170-180. We press ours at 350 Farenheit (not positive on the conversion) for 12-17 seconds. It sounds like you might be cooking the shirt a little bit which would cause the colors to be fade.
Thanks Clay, I will experiment. I usually do all of them at 200 for 40 seconds. It's only with this paper that it's not working. I'll try a lower temperature and for less time to see what happens! You don't think it has anything to do with my printing? Mind you, the transfers looks perfect until they are pressed. Cheers.
I print from photoshop and the setting looks to be RGB 8 bit colour - does that mean anything to you? Just tried CMYK but it didn't make any difference. I don't think I have accidently changed the settings fom how I usually print them - not sure what's going on!!??
give it a try with the new press settings but we suggest using normal print settings. there's no need to use a photo quality mode or high quality mode, those will lay down too much ink. that doesn't sound like the problem though.
