Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
So... I inherited a Epson Stylus Photo EX from my school. I didn't know how it was for printing transfers so i jus tpicked it up to see what i could do with it. Can anyone school me on the basics of this printer, what kind of ink its compatible with, is it good for transfers, etc... Also something in it is clogged, maybe the printer head or something i forgot. How can i go about cleaning this? The man said to use something like windex that breaks apart clogs.
Re: School Me on This Printer: Epson Stylus Photo EX
Looking at the epson product page, it doesn't look like it uses ultrachrome or durabrite (pigment) inks, so I'm not sure how well the printed transfers would hold up: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/P...revOID=1567225
Re: School Me on This Printer: Epson Stylus Photo EX
For head clogging, you can get some witch hazel (found in the same area of stores as rubbing alcohol). Hold down the ink button and the printer head will move into the center of printer. Unplug the printer, so the head stays in the center. Look to the right where the head used to be and there will be a square with a metal grid. In it, is a sponge. Take the witch hazel and fill up that square until it's full (you can use a syringe or something small to inject the witch hazel). Then plug the printer back in and do a head cleaning. This should get rid of your clogs.
Good luck.
