first question since joining - how do I prepare a picture for printing?
Hi everyone....I am trying to grasp heat transfer images made through a computer.
Let's say we have a GIF image...do you have to have some software program to display and print it or can you use PAINT to print the image onto a t-shirt?? Can anyone give an example of the process before it is ready for the printer?? ANY help would be greatly appreciated and I apologize if I sound ignorant or posted on the wrong forum...thanks.
Re: first question since joining - how do I prepare a picture for printing?
Hi naturaltoby,
Welcome to the forum. =)
When I want to select a picture for printing, I just select it for printing the way I would if I was printing it onto photo paper, except I print it on to transfer paper (JPSS/Jetpro Sofstretch for lights, and Ironall Dark for dark shirts, those are my preferred papers.)
I don't do anything special. I hope this helps. =)

I haven't used the paint program in a long time but you might want to download inkscape (its free) and learn to use it. There are tutorials on the internet to give you some help learning inkscape. Good luck.

Don't forget to mirror the image before printing. Epson inkjet will let you mirror the image. You can print from paint but you might have a very low resolution print.

LOL, thank goodness for Luis!!!! There are some things I take for granted, like mirroring. I don't think about it because I set the printer I use to the "mirror image" setting, and I don't click it.... sorry! Yes, that is something that needs to be done - but only for light shirts. For dark papers, you don't mirror the image... I have to uncheck that box when I do dark shirts, which is rarely (me no likey dark paper much, even tho Ironall Dark is not that bad.) =)
